Conduct tests for Rockwell Automation and external customers, determining test requirements and reviewing them for faults or compatibility. Interpret test specifications and obtain clarification when necessary to ensure tests are conducted as intended. Write test reports that clearly describe the tests performed and results obtained. Become thoroughly familiar with the High Current Laboratory operation and test procedures. Provide testing and technical support to other labs such as Engineering Labs, EMC, and Shock & Vibration as needed. Develop and implement new lab control and instrumentation systems and maintain and upgrade existing systems, including PC and workstation-based data acquisition system hardware and software design and upgrades, laboratory control systems design and upgrades (including PLC integration and programming), and power equipment maintenance and upgrades. Assist in troubleshooting laboratory systems as situations arise. Adapt test facility to various test conditions, requiring sound engineering knowledge, ability to improvise, and clear thinking. Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and methodology in laboratory systems and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship is not available for this position. Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year as a test engineer in electrical power testing and 1 year in computerized instrumentation. Knowledge of electronics and computer science. Familiarity with national and international standards related to power engineering, such as UL, CSA, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
