About this role

The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing new systems, equipment, and processes for the introduction of new products or the improvement of existing ones. This includes designing new manufacturing methods, overseeing implementation, testing, and making necessary adjustments. The role also involves designing layouts of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency, developing detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow, and estimating costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs/products. Additionally, the Process Engineer will prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures, evaluate existing manufacturing processes, and identify areas for improvement. The role requires incorporating new methods and processes to improve existing operations, applying continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness, and ensuring that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations. The Process Engineer will also evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards, investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks, develop and implement cost-saving measures and quality control systems, and ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations. The role also involves determining root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommending changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods, developing alternative methods of making manufacturing practices more efficient and cost-effective, and continuously improving and eliminating waste through ongoing analysis and identification of inefficiencies within the system. The Process Engineer will direct and oversee the full lifecycle of a product’s manufacturing process, including design, construction, packaging, and quality control, research and develop new processes, equipment, and products, study the new product design, process layout, and build of the manufacturing process/system, create products that meet all specifications and quality standards with the most cost-effective process, keep up to date with current and developing trends in the manufacturing industry, at a national and international level, identify and deliver service improvement activity across the business through employing process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking, and perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering, with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering preferred. Experience in evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery is required, along with proficiency in using CAD, data analysis programs, and related software. An excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts, including Lean and value stream mapping, is essential. The candidate should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts. Strong analytical, project, and product management skills are necessary, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to work independently. The candidate should have strong business acumen and the ability to translate technology to potential business impacts, and knowledge of ISO Standards (9001, 14001, 45001, etc.) is preferred. Critical competencies include aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, experience in collecting and analyzing data, talent in negotiations and networking, strong organization and management skills, and a person of high integrity.
